The Gift of Silence

Napoleon Bonaparte says "Know how to listen and be sure that silence often produces the same effects as science."

Since I entered the blogging world, I rarely used the "topic of discussion" to reflect something from my personal life. I don't share my feelings and my first priority is to discuss and learn as much as I can from my blog with my valued visitors. We each have our own vision in life and I try to make use of my blog in the most positive way possible in order to enhance my knowledge with other visitor's point of view.

I am not an open book and as it was discussed in my previous topic, I fall into the observant category. This can have a negative effect on my daily life. People often mistake me for being arrogant, not knowing that I merely find it difficult to open up. I prefer to listen than speak. Some people are that way. I am a strong believer in the less said, the better.

However, this silence does not mean you let others define your life for you. In fact, you define your life by learning from others through listening and observing, and, if need be, give some input when necessary, otherwise, remain silent, and just listen

First Impressions: A second look

We live surrounded by many types of individuals. Our encounters differ from one person to another. There are those who we meet just once, yet leave an impression that may live with us forever. Some people may be the observant type; they prefer to speak less, and contemplate more. First impressions may fool us, leading us to think negatively of these people. However, once you get to know them closely, you'd discover you were completely wrong, and regret misjudging at first.

Others may be the type that just says too much. You'd wish they'd close their mouths before opening them again. First impressions, again, lead us to thinking that way. We never question what may be the cause to that person being that way. If all people were alike, life would just be too boring. There are the extremes and the moderate. This makes the world balanced.

We are all different in the ways we act and deal with situations, which explains the kind of lifestyle we tend to lead. This shows that we must never let first impressions affect the way we deal with others. Some may not be as social as others. Everyone should give it a try, and take the initiative to make a first step, without blind judgments.
